OUR STORY

Acqua Santa Tattoo concept idea of the MotherShip was created in New York City back in 2010. First in Brooklyn for an year and a half in a very small private area of a Greenpoint one bedroom apartment, the whole concept of hospitality and concierge to the clientele was sketched. In December of 2011, exactly 10 years after the captain landed in New York, he decided to pull up the anchor from BK and moved the MotherShip to Manhattan, Chelsea more precisely. In a small basement studio which the way to be found was to cross a electrical power grid hallway under exposed water pipes inside the back of a 1900’s old school classical pre-war building, we stayed there for 7 years with incredible memories and tattoo experiences specially from our famous backyard featuring the Brazilian style hammocks and BBQ’s. Right before the world shutdown with the pandemic crisis back in 2019, we docked the MotherShip at the bohemian West Village neighborhood, we had anchored there for 4 years and was one of the best times of our lives, we handcrafted and built-in a 1800’s townhouse in the heart of the city, a triple floor location with full on custom decor amenities and private member areas exclusive for the collectors that came thru those doors. The Highve Den, an art studio of EL ConQuistaD’or created in 2020 was a special private area of the Greenwich Village location that hosted events like our Tattoo Lounge Experiences and the podcast show Cocktails & Ink. In February 2023, we closed the doors of that location, pulled up the anchor once again and decided to set the sails thru new winds that makes us flow looking for new horizons. Now to continue to provide our clientele we established some secret locations in the city and a new exclusive ambience for the collectors. Owned and operated by our captain JP Rodrigues as he’s know in his international career.

Rodrigues is driven by his own passion to learn and evolve, he has traveled the world collaborating with and learning from renowned artists in the tattoo community. A lifelong student of visual arts and crafted ink pigmentation techniques , JP’s combined personal and professional experiences culminated in the creation of Acqua Santa Tattoo. A place purposefully created for those who share a love for tattoos, and passion for culture, art and the human connection.

Acqua Santa provides an immersive and memorable experience to their clientele. It’s a place where the memories and connections are as lasting and significant as the tattoos themselves.

"OUR CRAFT IS AN ANCIENT RITE OF PASSAGE THAT HOLDS MEMORIES THAT CAN'T BE BROKEN BETWEEN A LIVING CANVAS AND AN ARTISAN WHO TAILORS HIS CREATION IN A SPARKLE OF THE MOMENT TO AN ENDLESS TIME OF EXISTENCE IN THAT HUMAN LIFE."

- JP Rodrigues
